Writer Sherman Alexie Discusses his Life and Work.
A new young poet and short-story writer Sherman Alexie. He's a 26 year-old Native American who grew up on the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene Indian Reservation in Washington State. His first book of poetry and short-stories, "The Business of Fancydancing," (Hanging Loose Press, Brooklyn) published in 1992 was hailed by he New York Times as "wide-ranging, dexterous and consistently capable of raising your neck hair," and termed ALEXIE "one of the major lyric voices of our time." Alexie has a new book, "The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven." (Atlantic Monthly Press).
